2021.09.10 Flexible Hybrid System
Until the rise of the Delta variant, Covid-19 infection among elementary students was somewhat rare compared to adults and mostly coming from close family contacts. This situation has now changed. The situation before the summer vacation and after the summer vacation is quite different. Going forward, beyond another state of emergency declaration, it seems the response across Japanese society is somewhat limited and we are entering a phase where we need to cope with higher rates of infection. Kyoto Seibo Gakuin Elementary School began the 2nd term online but will now resume classroom lessons. Why did we take this step? First, we want to protect our students and families during a time of high infection rates. But there is a deeper meaning. From now, the reality is that some students, some teachers, some whole classes and some whole grade levels will need to be absent for weeks at a time due to infection or close contact. In this case, we have prepared an education delivery response which ranges from 100% classroom to 100% online and every possible hybrid scenario in the middle. By investing these first two weeks into online learning, we reaffirmed our remote learning system and ensured both teachers and students can flexibly cope with the myriad of hybrid classroom/online situations we are certain to experience for a while. Let’s actively work together and pray for everyone’s safety and stable life until this difficult pandemic subsides.
デルタ株が登場するまで、小学生の間でのCovid-19感染は、成人と比較してややまれであり、ほとんどが家族感染によるものでした。この状況は変わってきました。夏休み前と夏休み後の状況はかなり異なります。今後、緊急事態宣言を終えたとしても、日本社会全体の反応はやや限られたものであり、より高い感染率に対応する必要のある段階に入っているようです。
京都聖母学院小学校はオンラインで第2学期を開始しましたが、現在は教室での授業を再開しています。なぜこのステップを踏んだのか？まず、感染率が高い時期に児童と家族を守りたいと考えたからです。しかし、もっと深い意味があります。これからは、感染の広がりや濃厚接触のために、一部の児童、一部の教師、一部のクラス、および一部の学年が一度に数週間休まなければならないことがあり得ます。このようなケースに備えて、教室授業から完全オンライン授業までの範囲の学びの提供と、可能なすべてのハイブリッドシナリオを考えました。この最初の2週間をオンライン学習に取り組むことで、遠隔教育システムを再確認し、教師と児童の両方が、しばらくの間確実に経験するであろう数多くのハイブリッド教室/オンライン学習に柔軟に対処できるようにしました。
この困難なパンデミックが収束するまで、積極的に協力し、皆の安全と安定した生活を祈りましょう。
