Our students are going to live in a world where the ability to overcome barriers such as language and culture are going to be more important than ever. Seibo equips students with not only English skills, but the ability to understand and react to changes while expressing their thoughts and opinions on a variety of social and cultural challenges.
Creation of global citizens for the 21st century
As a school founded on Catholic principles, Seibo strives to instill in its students a spirit of understanding and care. These skills will give students a head start in a globalized world.
In addition, Seibo aims to equip its students with knowledge that is shared among people of all cultures. Students are encouraged to apply their knowledge and inquiry to the common issues addressed by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, and regular communication with students and guest lecturers in other countries helps students to see certain issues that are addressed both here at home and abroad. In addition, by giving students the tools and opportunities to express their thoughts and opinions on these issues, they will become truly global citizens capable of thriving in any situation.

academic courses learn from a contentbased English curriculum with a focus on the SDGs. Cengage Learning’s Keynote and Time Zones texts form the basis of this curriculum design.
To help develop students’ output (speaking and writing) skills, a digital SDGs text is used and students are encouraged to under take their own research. Students are then encouraged to share their findings, developing skills that will be essential as they become international citizens in the future.
Throughout the school year, guest speakers a re invited to talk to the students both in-person and online to further deepen their understanding of topics ranging from identit y to env ironmental protection.

Students in the GSC and high-level academic courses are paired with students from our Australian sister school. Throughout the year they exchange letters, emails, and video messages, and take online classes together. The Australian students, who study Japanese, also enjoy learning not only the language but also about many cultural and social differences. It’s a valuable experience for students on both sides to deepen their cross-cultural understanding.
