The Sound of Music

This week we started music lessons at Seibo International Preschool.

Cosmos class had their first lesson after lunch on Tuesday. We started by learning solfage (do, re, me, fa, so, la, ti, do), but amazingly some students already knew it! Next we practiced singing along with “Doe, a deer” from the famous movie The sound of music. After that we learnt about xylophones, and practiced listening to the music carefully and hitting the right keys. Everyone did very well!

Next was Ocean class on Wednesday morning. We started by practicing clapping and stamping together in rhythm. Next we practiced marching in time to the music, matching our feet to the beat. After that we learnt about castanets, and practiced matching our castanets to the music. I was very happy that everyone did so well!

Last was Sun class on Wednesday afternoon. We started by practicing clapping and marching together in rhythm. Next we learnt about crochets (四分音符）and minims（二分音符). Soon everyone was marching around the room chanting “crochet, crochet, minim, minim” perfectly. After that we learned about drumpads and drumsticks, and practiced playing crochets and minims. Everyone did excellently.
