4月21日は参観・懇談会にお越しいただきありがとうございました。

4年生の算数では、「指算九九」と「17段目の不思議」に挑戦。

最初は「指でかけ算できるの？」と半信半疑だった子どもたちも、やり方を覚えると魔法使いになったような表情に。何度も指で計算をしていました。

特に17段目の不思議では、教室中に「同じ数字にならへん。」「え、一緒になった。すごい！」という声が響き渡りました。「何で？」という保護者の声、また子どもたちのあの目の輝き、教師として一番嬉しい瞬間です。

「算数は暗記じゃなくて発見なんだ」ということが、少しでも伝わっていたら嬉しいです。ぜひ、お家でもお子さんに「魔法」を見せてもらってくださいね。

In 4th grade math, we tackled “finger multiplication tables” and “the mystery of the 17th multiplication table.”
At first, the children were skeptical, asking, “Can you really multiply with your fingers?” But once they learned how, their faces lit up like magicians, and they repeatedly practiced calculating with their fingers.

Especially with “the mystery of the 17th multiplication table,” the classroom was filled with exclamations like, “They’re not the same number!” and “Wow, they’re the same! Amazing!” The parents’ questions of “Why?” and the sparkle in the children’s eyes were the most rewarding moments for me as a teacher.

I hope that even a little bit of the idea that “math isn’t about memorization, it’s about discovery” was conveyed. Please ask your children to show you their “magic” at home!
