Koinobori

Greetings from SIP!

We are approaching the end of May, and the long holiday, golden week, was over.

However, our koinobori art is by far one of our favorite pieces

and we would like to take you through the creating process.

Inspired by traditional Japanese hanging scrolls (Kakejiku),

we used different artistic skills such as drawing, origami, etc. all made by our little hands.

First, we folded colored and Japanese-patterned origami paper into small triangles.

We then paired them up, stuck them together with glue to make koi fish.

After that, we glued the eyes we drew earlier onto the koi fish.

Once the fish were ready, we proceeded to draw the background, the waves and the rising sun.

Once everything was done, we put them together. And voila!

our carefully crafted Koinobori inspired by the Japanese culture made with pride by our little hands!
