Sunflowers in Bloom: Our Van Gogh-Inspired Art Adventure (Cosmos class)

In the Cosmos class, we recently explored the vibrant world of Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most famous painters in history. Since the sunflower is the flower of August, we thought, what better way to celebrate than by creating our own sunflower masterpieces inspired by Van Gogh’s colorful, swirling style?

We began by looking closely at Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings, noticing how he used bright and deep colors to bring his flowers to life. The kids were fascinated by how the artwork seemed to dance on the canvas, full of energy and warmth. One student even exclaimed, “It’s like a dream!”

With oil pastels in hand, the children brought their sunflowers to life, layering colors to create the texture of petals and leaves against a vibrant background. The results were stunning—each sunflower bursting with personality and creativity!

The finished pieces now hang proudly at the entrance to our classroom, filling the space with warmth and joy. Each artwork is a beautiful reminder of how art can inspire us, just as Van Gogh’s sunflowers have done for so many people around the world.

Our art adventure was a blooming success, and I couldn’t be prouder of the little Cosmos artists who made it happen!

See you again next time!

Xoxo
