2019.06.27 SEIBO LIFESAVER

昔、私はオーストラリアで体育の先生でした。 私は水泳教師の免許と「ブロンズスター」というライフセーバーの資格を持っています。 これはみなさんがオーストラリアのビーチで見る救命士の資格です。 もう、30年も前のことです！ 先日、聖母の先生全員が京都市消防局の方と救命講習で心臓マッサージとAED訓練を行いました。 私は自分のスキルを覚いだし、それを磨く良い機会を得ました。 そして、水泳授業を見守る監視の役割にも、志願しました。 基本的な水泳技術は人生にとって非常に重要です。 とても暑かったので子どもたちと一緒に泳ぎたかったです。でも安全が、常に1番大切です。私はライフセーバー用の高い椅子に座って、プール全体を監視しました。子どもたちは安全に水泳授業に取り組むことができました。

A long time ago I was a PE teacher in Australia. I had a swimming teacher license and a lifesaver qualification called the “Bronze Star”. This is the qualification for the lifesavers you see at beaches in Australia. But that was 30 years ago! Recently all the teachers at Seibo did emergency training with Kyoto Fire Department. It was a good chance to remember and brush up my skills. So when teachers needed help with swimming, I volunteered. Basic  swimming skills are super important for life. It was hot and I wanted to swim with the kids. But safety is always number 1. I sat in the high lifesaver chair and watched everything. The kids enjoyed their swimming classes in complete safety.
